The trail begins at the entrance of Braunston Country Park, a serene area known for its lush greenery and well-maintained paths. As you start your hike, you'll be greeted by a gentle incline, making the initial part of the trail quite manageable. The first 2 km (1.2 miles) take you through a dense woodland area, where you can spot various bird species and small mammals.
Around the 3 km (1.9 miles) mark, you'll come across the remnants of an old canal system. This area is historically significant as it was part of the Grand Union Canal, which played a crucial role in the industrial era of England. The last 4 km (2.5 miles) of the trail take you back into a wooded area, gradually descending towards the starting point. This section is slightly more challenging due to the uneven terrain, so watch your step. The sound of a nearby stream accompanies you, adding a soothing backdrop to your hike.
As you complete the loop and return to the trailhead, you'll find several benches and picnic tables where you can rest and reflect on your journey. The park also has restroom facilities and a small café, perfect for grabbing a snack before heading home.
