The walk begins adjacent to the Lilleshall Primary School where a small car park is available. At the junction of the car park with Limekiln Lane, alongside the bus shelter, turn left and head north along Limekiln Lane as the road gently bears to the right. As the road takes a sharp bend to the left, at the junction with Willmoor Lane, cross the road and proceed along Willmoor Lane. As you travel downhill along the track, look for the hedgerow on the left marking the field boundary. As you get to the edge of the field, turn right following Hutchison Way (there Is a marker directly opposite the turn) and the path crosses the field heading towards the woods. At this point you are now travelling along the former path of the canal. As you approach the corner of the woods, with the trees on your right, the path passes through an opening into the trees. On your right you will be able to see the ditch which is the remnants of the former canal. Continue through the woods, over a small bridge, to the stile. Crossing the stile into the woods, the path continues along the field boundary. After approximately 100m you will continue to the left of the small pond. At the end of the pond, you will turn to the right and cross the stile. At this point the path crosses the field to the opposite field boundary and climbs uphill to a small gate. Once through to the track, turn right and follow the track to the junction with Old Farm Lane. At the junction, turn right and continue along the tarmac road for approximately 1km to where it meets Limekiln Lane again. Should you wish you to avoid the walk up Lilleshall monument, you can turn right and after a short walk will return to the start of the route. The main route now turns left and continues left along Church Road, caution should be taken crossing the road. Shortly after passing the Cricket Club on your right and before reaching the housing, there is a kissing gate on the right, pass through the gate and continue along the field boundary, towards the monument. Once in the corner at the opposite side of the field, pass through the kissing gate between the two houses, and go through the gap into Hillside East. Turn left and continue along Hillside East for 125m. Just before Hillside East bends to the left, the route takes a sharp right turn off the tarmac road. Continue uphill following the path and as you leave the treeline you will see the monument on the right. Turn right uphill off the level path towards the monument, where you turn left. . At this point you will have views across the North Shropshire Plain and across to the Wrekin. Leaving the hill top, head past the trig point and downhill to again meet Hillside East. At the road with the gate in front of you, take a slight right taking the narrow path leaving the tarmac road and walk down hill to the rear of the housing. At the end of the path pass through the kissing gate into the playing fields. Continue straight across the playing fields, with the playground on your right, to the gate. Once through the gate, turn right and continue along the track and return to the car park in front of the school.
