Head away from Morrisons (with the store on your right) towards the exit of the car park. When you get to the road, turn left and head downhill. Cross the entrance to the nursery before taking the path on your left that veers slightly left and continues in a downward direction. At the bottom of the path, cross the road (take care) and continue on the clear path through the wooden gates. Continue to the end of the path (a T-junction by Newdale Pool). Here, turn right passing a children’s play area, and follow the path around the perimeter of the pond. (This is the site of Newdale Village, the last farm was demolished in the 1990s and this area became an open cast mining site.) At the end of the path, you’ll meet a footpath (and cycleway) that leads from Lawley to Overdale. Turn left, continue to follow this (with the pool on your left) until you get to a righthand turn. Take this, and follow the Ironbridge Way for a short distance along the old “Coalport Dodger” Railway You’ll soon come to some steps on your left. Take these, and follow the path across the Grade II:listed Newdale Tramway Bridge. (you may want to follow the T50 50 mile trail waymarks to deviate off the path to get a view of the bridge.). When you come to a T junction, turn right and you will soon come to Birchfield Way. Cross the road and turn right, crossing Synders Way. Turn left and follow the footpath up the green space between Synders Way and Bemrose Avenue. Take the third footpath (second road) left off the footpath (about halfway up) in the direction of Newdale Halt. Cross Synders Way again, heading straight up Newdale Halt. Once you get to the end of the road, you’ll see a footpath heading up into trees. Take this path and then take the first right up the steps. At the top of the steps, turn right to follow the footpath until you’ve crossed the bridge over Lawley Drive. After crossing the brdge, take a slight left and follow the road up to the top of Pepper Mill. Take a left and walk along the pavement until you reach the zebra crossing. Cross here, and turn left, passing in front of Lawley Primary School. Follow the footpath that separates the two roads - continue in this direction when the path splits, heading towards the open space that is Lawley Village Green. There’s a gap in the fence here that you should walk through, continuing in the same direction. You want to head straight across the green, keeping the houses close to your left. In the corner of the field, you’ll see a gate that takes you into the trees. Head through this, and the second gate, again continuing roughly in the same direction. Through the second field, you want to head diagonally towards the playground in the corner. Leave the corner and head straight into Duddell Street, which you will follow to the top of the road. Here, you’ll find steps which lead to a zebra crossing across The Crescent (Dawley Road). Use this zebra crossing and then turn left, following the path towards the “White Church” (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) . When the path splits, you want to head to the right, keeping the church on your left. Follow this footpath over a bridge Note: here you will encounter walk 17 Horsehay. We have tried to distinguish the routes using numbered stickers, so you should follow walk 13.. Head straight up Lawley Gate, using the footpath to the right of the barriers, heading up off the road. You’ll pass the restored Lawley Gate Well, before joining the main road towards Dawley. (Beer lovers may find the artwork on the modern gate to the restored Well reminiscent of Wychwood Ales, this is no coincidence. ) Shortly after joining the road, you want to cross and take the footpath to the left. (You will be on the T50 route here until Morrisons) . The path splits into two - both head in the same direction, but we’d recommend the path to the right - heading downhill with Lawley Common to your right. (You will pass a path on your right that leads to the Lawley Village Station of the Telford Steam Railway.) Keep following this path, ignoring and roads or paths to the left or right until you get to the bottom of the hill at the back of the school. After a few wiggles on the path, turn left to pass the school, then turn right, heading for the traffic lights near Lawley Square. Cross here and continue straight ahead back to the start point by Morrisons.
