Starting from the village green in Chiddingfold, the trail initially takes you through Sheep Walk, a picturesque area characterized by rolling meadows and ancient oak trees. This section is relatively flat, making it a gentle introduction to the hike. Keep an eye out for grazing sheep and the occasional deer.
As you progress, you’ll enter Kiln Field Coppice, a dense woodland area that offers a stark contrast to the open meadows. The trail here becomes more undulating, with a gradual ascent that contributes to the overall elevation gain. This section is particularly beautiful in the spring when bluebells carpet the forest floor. Birdwatchers will appreciate the variety of species, including woodpeckers and nuthatches.
The final section of the loop takes you through Coles Copse, another woodland area but with a different character. Here, the trees are older and the undergrowth denser, giving it a more secluded feel. This part of the trail includes a few steeper inclines and descents, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. The trail eventually loops back towards Chiddingfold, offering a mix of open fields and wooded paths.
