Loop
Discover the wild western edge of the Peak District on this scenic 10-mile circular walk from Dovestone Reservoir, taking in two Ethel summits, Alphin Pike and Ashway Moss. The route climbs onto open moorland with panoramic views across Saddleworth before passing the dramatic gritstone cliffs of Wimberry Rocks and the tranquil waters of Chew Reservoir, the highest reservoir in England. A final stretch across the remote moor leads to Ashway Moss before descending back to Dovestone Reservoir. With rugged landscapes, fascinating history and a relatively gentle 404 metres of ascent, this is a rewarding walk that showcases some of the Peak District’s finest moorland scenery.
