The trail begins in the charming village of Osmotherley, known for its quaint stone cottages and historic church. As you set off, you'll quickly find yourself immersed in the serene beauty of the North York Moors National Park.
The initial stretch from Osmotherley to Milking Hill covers approximately 5 km (3.1 miles) and involves a gradual ascent. The path is well-marked and takes you through lush woodlands and open fields. Keep an eye out for local wildlife such as deer and various bird species. The ascent to Milking Hill offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, making it a perfect spot for a short break.
From Milking Hill, the trail continues for another 6 km (3.7 miles) towards Bycliffe. This section is relatively flat and takes you through a mix of moorland and farmland. The landscape here is dotted with ancient stone walls and farmhouses, some of which date back several centuries.
