- Egton Bridge to Grosmont (Approx. 3 km / 1.9 miles): This section follows the River Esk and is relatively flat. Grosmont is famous for its heritage railway station, part of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. If you’re a fan of steam trains, this is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the historic ambiance.
- Grosmont to Goathland (Approx. 6 km / 3.7 miles): The trail starts to climb more steeply here, gaining elevation as you head towards Goathland. This village is well-known as the filming location for the TV series "Heartbeat" and the "Harry Potter" films. The Mallyan Spout waterfall, a 21-meter (69 feet) high cascade, is a must-see detour.
- Goathland to Fylingdales Moor (Approx. 8 km / 5 miles): This stretch takes you across open moorland, offering expansive views of the surrounding countryside. The terrain can be boggy, so waterproof boots are recommended. The moor is also home to ancient stone crosses and boundary markers, adding a touch of historical intrigue.
