To reach the trailhead, you can drive or use public transport. If driving, head towards Gayle, which is easily accessible from the A684. There is limited parking available in the village, so arriving early is advisable. For those using public transport, the nearest train station is in Garsdale, about 12 miles (19 km) away. From Garsdale, you can take a local bus or taxi to Gayle.

As you begin your hike, you’ll immediately be immersed in the lush greenery and rolling hills characteristic of the Yorkshire Dales. About halfway through the loop, you’ll come across the Gayle Mill, a historic sawmill dating back to the 18th century. The mill is located approximately 2 km (1.2 miles) from the start of the trail.
