The first significant landmark is Beacon Hill, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The ascent to Beacon Hill is gradual but steady, with an elevation gain of about 150 meters (492 feet) over the first 4 km (2.5 miles). Continuing on, you will enter Huthwaite Plantation, a dense woodland area that provides a stark contrast to the open moorland of Beacon Hill.
