As you set off, you'll follow a well-marked path that meanders through picturesque countryside, characterized by rolling fields and dense woodlands. The trail is relatively flat, making it suitable for hikers of varying skill levels, though the estimated difficulty rating is medium due to the length and some uneven terrain.

Historical Significance

One of the key highlights of this walk is the Bank Top Kilns, which are located approximately 3.5 km (2.17 miles) from the trailhead. These kilns are remnants of the region's industrial past, specifically the ironstone mining industry that flourished in the 19th century. As you approach the kilns, you'll notice the impressive stone structures, which stand as a testament to the area's industrial heritage.

Nature and Wildlife

The trail offers ample opportunities to observe local flora and fauna. The woodlands are home to a variety of bird species, including woodpeckers and owls. Keep an eye out for deer and foxes, which are often spotted in the early morning or late afternoon. The fields are dotted with wildflowers, especially in the spring and summer months, adding a splash of color to your hike.

Navigation and Safety

While the trail is well-marked, it's always a good idea to have a reliable navigation tool. HiiKER is an excellent app for this purpose, providing detailed maps and real-time updates.
