Points of Interest

As you embark on the trail, you'll quickly find yourself immersed in the natural beauty of Elmdon Park. The park is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including ancient oak trees and a diverse bird population. Keep an eye out for woodpeckers, robins, and the occasional heron near the park's ponds.

Historical Significance

Elmdon Park has a rich history dating back to the 18th century. The park was once part of the Elmdon Hall estate, and although the hall itself was demolished in the 1950s, remnants of its past can still be seen. Look for the old walled garden and the ice house, which are fascinating glimpses into the park's storied past.

Navigation and Safety

The trail is well-marked, but it's always a good idea to have a reliable navigation tool. HiiKER is an excellent app for this purpose, offering detailed maps and real-time tracking to ensure you stay on course. The terrain is generally flat, but be prepared for some uneven ground and muddy patches, especially after rain.

Wildlife and Nature

The park's ponds are a highlight, attracting a variety of waterfowl. In spring and summer, the meadows burst into color with wildflowers, making it a perfect spot for nature photography. The park also features several picnic areas, so consider packing a lunch to enjoy amidst the natural beauty.

Final Stretch

As you near the end of the loop, you'll pass by the Elmdon Church, a charming 13th-century building that adds a touch of historical intrigue to your hike. The churchyard is a peaceful place to rest and reflect before completing the final leg of your journey.
