At approximately 2 km (1.2 miles) into the hike, you'll come across the historic Croydon Canal remnants. This canal, which was operational in the early 19th century, played a significant role in the industrial development of the region. Although much of the canal has been filled in, you can still see some of the original structures and learn about its history from informational plaques along the trail.
