#### Bardney Abbey to River Witham Starting at Bardney Abbey, the trail heads southeast towards the River Witham. This section is relatively flat and easy, making it a good warm-up. The riverbanks are home to a variety of bird species, so keep your binoculars handy for some birdwatching. After about 3 km (1.9 miles), you'll reach the river, where you can enjoy the tranquil waters and perhaps spot some local wildlife like otters or kingfishers.
#### River Witham to Southrey Wood Following the river, the trail continues for another 4 km (2.5 miles) before turning west towards Southrey Wood. This section includes a gentle ascent, gaining about 50 meters (164 feet) in elevation. Southrey Wood is a beautiful mixed woodland area, perfect for a short break.
