If you prefer public transport, the nearest train station is in Nelson, about 6 miles (9.7 km) away. From Nelson, you can take a bus to Barley, with services running regularly.### Trail Overview The trail begins at the Barley Picnic Site, a convenient starting point with facilities such as restrooms and picnic areas. From here, the path ascends gradually through lush meadows and farmland, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. ### Key Landmarks and Sections
The initial 2 km (1.2 miles) of the trail are relatively gentle, leading you through picturesque fields and past the Lower Ogden Reservoir. As you continue, the path becomes steeper, and you'll begin the ascent to Pendle Hill. The climb is challenging but rewarding, with panoramic views awaiting you at the summit.
