Generally very well signposted. I followed the trail markers and didn't need the app 95% of the time. If you follow the trail markers they lead you on a slightly different route of 17.92 miles. I did this in trail runners on a wet and muddy day. I didn't have any issues with lack of ankle support or grip

Nice hike overall. A bit of road walking and last part was one of those odd bits of route where you feel like you’re trespassing, having to walk on someone’s drive to access the path. Very steep and full of brambles across the path on that last stretch, so wear sleeves!
