The forests are home to ancient oak and beech trees, providing a habitat for various bird species like woodpeckers and owls. Keep an eye out for the elusive red kite, a bird of prey that has been successfully reintroduced to the area.
The return journey follows the same path, allowing you to revisit the stunning vistas and perhaps notice details you missed on the way up. The descent can be challenging on the knees, so trekking poles are recommended for added stability.
