The loop begins in the picturesque village of Burley, known for its charming cottages and historical significance. As you set off, you'll quickly find yourself immersed in the serene beauty of the New Forest National Park. The trail meanders through ancient woodlands, open heathlands, and past tranquil streams, offering a diverse range of landscapes.
Yewtree Bottom: About 1 km (0.6 miles) into the hike, you'll reach Yewtree Bottom, a lush valley filled with ancient yew trees. These trees are not only beautiful but also historically significant, as yew wood was traditionally used for making longbows in medieval England.
