#### Hannington Church to Watership Down Approximately 2 km (1.2 miles) into the hike, you'll reach the base of Watership Down, made famous by Richard Adams' novel of the same name. The climb up Watership Down is gradual but steady, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. This section is particularly beautiful in spring when wildflowers are in bloom.
#### Watership Down to Ladle Hill Continuing along the ridge, you'll come to Ladle Hill, an ancient hill fort dating back to the Iron Age. This section of the trail is about 3 km (1.9 miles) from Watership Down. The hill fort itself is a fascinating historical site, with earthworks that are still visible today. #### Ladle Hill to Cottington's Hill From Ladle Hill, the trail descends gently through a mix of woodland and open fields. #### Cottington's Hill to Hannington Village The final stretch of the trail takes you back towards Hannington village, passing through more woodland and agricultural land.
