To reach the trailhead, you can drive to Chalton, which is accessible via the A3. There is limited parking available near the village, so arriving early is advisable. For those using public transport, the nearest train station is Petersfield, approximately 8 km (5 miles) away. From Petersfield, you can take a local bus or taxi to Chalton.

Starting in Chalton, you'll immediately notice the charm of this small village, with its traditional English cottages and the historic St. Michael's Church, dating back to the 12th century. The church is a great spot to explore before you begin your hike.
As you leave Chalton, the trail takes you into the South Downs National Park, a vast expanse of rolling hills and scenic landscapes. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, foxes, and numerous bird species. Keep an eye out for red kites soaring above.
