To reach the trailhead, you can either drive or use public transport. If driving, set your GPS to the nearest known address: The Cross, Worcester, WR1 3PY, which is a central location in Worcester. From there, follow local signage to the trailhead. For those using public transport, Worcester Foregate Street Railway Station is the closest major station. The trail begins with a gentle ascent through a wooded area, where you’ll be surrounded by a variety of native trees such as oak, beech, and ash. As you continue, you’ll come across remnants of historical significance. About 2 km (1.2 miles) into the hike, you’ll find the ruins of an old stone cottage, believed to date back to the 18th century. This area was once part of a larger estate, and the ruins offer a glimpse into the region’s past.
Around the 3 km (1.9 miles) mark, the trail opens up to a clearing that offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. This is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the scenery. The elevation gain here is about 50 meters (164 feet), making it the highest point of the trail.
The final stretch of the trail takes you through a meadow filled with wildflowers during the spring and summer months. This area is also a haven for butterflies and bees, making it a vibrant and colorful part of the hike. The last 1 km (0.6 miles) of the trail is a gentle descent back to the trailhead.
