For those using public transport, the nearest significant landmark is the Rotherfield Village, which is well-connected by local buses from nearby towns such as Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells. From Rotherfield Village, it's a short walk to the trailhead.
The trail begins with a gentle ascent through a mixed woodland area, where you can expect to see a variety of native trees such as oak, beech, and ash. The initial 2 km (1.2 miles) of the trail are relatively easy, making it a good warm-up for the more challenging sections ahead.
