Out and Back
The hike starts in Grasmere village. Pay for parking or park for free in the large layby just up the A591. You will follow the Grasmere Trail along the lake, and then stroll along the River Rothay to Rydal Water. Go along the lake and stop for lunch at the tea chalet at Rydal Hall. Return along the same route but via the Rydal Caves, which you can enjoy exploring with a phone torch - it is free entry.
