Kirk Fell, Black Sail Pass, Pillar and Wind Gap Loop

The trail spans approximately 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) with an elevation gain of around 1400 meters (4593 feet), making it a medium difficulty hike suitable for those with a good level of fitness.

Getting There

To reach the trailhead, you can drive to Wasdale Head, which is accessible via the A595 road. For those relying on public transport, the nearest train station is in Seascale, about 15 miles (24 km) away. From Seascale, you can take a local bus or taxi to Wasdale Head.

The Ascent to Kirk Fell

Starting from Wasdale Head, the initial ascent to Kirk Fell is steep and demanding. The climb covers approximately 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) and gains about 700 meters (2297 feet) in elevation.
