The trail begins near Ennerdale Bridge and follows the southern shore of Ennerdale Water, one of the most serene and less-visited lakes in the Lake District. The initial section of the trail is relatively flat, making it a pleasant start as you walk along the lake's edge. As you progress, the trail gradually ascends towards Angler's Crag, a prominent rocky outcrop offering stunning views over Ennerdale Water.
