There is ample parking available at the Wendover Woods car park. For those using public transport, the nearest train station is Wendover, which is about 2 miles (3.2 km) from the trailhead. From the station, you can either take a taxi or enjoy a brisk walk to the starting point.
The trail begins at Wendover Woods, a popular recreational area known for its dense forest and well-maintained paths. As you start your hike, you'll be greeted by a canopy of beech, oak, and pine trees, providing a serene and shaded environment. The initial part of the trail is relatively flat, allowing you to ease into the hike.
At around 3 km (1.9 miles) into the hike, you'll come across the Wendover Woods Café, a perfect spot for a quick break. The café offers refreshments and has restrooms available. Nearby, you'll find the Go Ape adventure course, which can be an exciting detour if you're up for some additional adventure.
Continuing on, the trail leads you into Stonehill Wood. This section is more undulating, with gentle climbs and descents. The forest here is less dense, allowing more sunlight to filter through. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including deer, foxes, and a variety of bird species. The trail through Stonehill Wood is particularly beautiful in the autumn when the leaves change color.
