Significant Landmarks

Continuing on, around the 2 km (1.24 miles) mark, you'll find a small pond that is home to ducks and other waterfowl. This is another excellent spot for a break and some wildlife watching.

Historical Significance

The area around Lord's Wood has a rich history. The woodlands were once part of the estate of the Prior Park, a grand Palladian house built in the 18th century by Ralph Allen, a notable entrepreneur and philanthropist. The trails you walk today were likely used by estate workers and visitors centuries ago.

Flora and Fauna

As you make your way through the loop, you'll notice a variety of plant life. In spring and summer, the forest floor is carpeted with bluebells and wild garlic, creating a picturesque scene. Autumn brings a burst of color with the changing leaves, making it a perfect time for photography.

Final Stretch

The last kilometer of the trail takes you through a denser part of the forest, where the canopy overhead creates a cool, shaded environment. This section can be a bit muddy after rain, so good hiking boots are recommended. The trail loops back to the starting point, completing your 3 km journey.
