That makes this section of the Leanganook area more flexible for hikers with dogs, although track-specific restrictions and current park conditions should always be checked before setting out.
As of Thursday, April 2, 2026, Parks Victoria reported that Mount Alexander Regional Park had reopened to visitors, including Leanganook Campground and Joseph Young Drive. However, it also stated that most of the park was badly burned and that all walking tracks remained closed at that time, so current conditions are especially important for anyone planning the Leanganook Track.
