Walk the ancient Songlines or ‘dreaming tracks’ of the Yuin Aboriginal people on this special coastal walk; these walking routes and paths cross land and country and connect important Aboriginal locations. On this, the Bingi Dreaming Track, follow a 16 mi out-and-back trail with a couple of looped sections and take in the wild south coast of Eurobodalla National Park, New South Wales, Australia. There is no defined starting point on this beautiful coastal trail but it is easily accessed and parking is available at Congo village, Bingie Bingie Point, Meringo or at Coila Beach, with some options being prone to flooding. This walking route can also be shortened; walked as a point-to-point with cars left at either end. Take in the panoramic views, spot kangaroos lying in the sun, walk amongst ancient coastal habitats and heathland, through forests and along stretches of breath-taking beach on this trail graded as Medium difficulty. For information on how we grade trails, please click here. From the viewpoints along the way you can also see Gulaga or ‘Mount Dromedary’ and Montague Island Nature Reserve – a haven for marine and wildlife. This hike is usually completed in around 7 hours, although the route may be affected by flooding so be aware that detours will alter timings. Caution is advised on trail times as this depends on multiple variables. For more info, click here. A most spectacular spot during the winter to spot migrating whales, a particularly good vantage point being from Mystery Bay, however, this is a beautiful trail year-round, boasting wildflowers, wildlife and endless views from start to finish. Entry to the national park is free but dogs are not allowed for the protection and conservation of the park and its wildlife.
