Natural Highlights and Landmarks

One of the first major landmarks after Mount Monadnock is Pitcher Mountain, which is about 16 kilometers (10 miles) into the trail. This area is known for its blueberry fields and offers a fire tower with views of the surrounding countryside.

Continuing on, hikers will encounter the Andorra Forest, a conservation area that provides a serene hiking experience through old-growth forest. Approximately halfway through the trail, near Washington, NH, you'll find Lovewell Mountain, another spot with a fire tower and a chance to spot local wildlife.

As you approach the northern end of the trail, Lake Solitude on Mount Sunapee presents a picturesque setting for a rest or a swim during warmer months. The final ascent to the summit of Mount Sunapee rewards hikers with views of the lake below and the broader New England landscape.
