The Miners Way and Historical Trail is a moderate 118 km point-to-point route that begins in Drumshanbo ED, Ireland and ends in Dowra, Ireland. With a total elevation gain of 5997 ft this long distance trail typically takes around 6 days to complete, and follows the paths the Arigna miners used to take on their journey to work in the nearby coal mines. The trail takes in three lakes, Lough Allen, Lough Arrow and Lough Key and venturing through the low mountain ranges of Corry Mountain, the Curlew Mountains and the Bricklieve Mountains. Despite being Waymarked, hikers should remain vigilant navigating at all times. There is a fair amount of road walking on this route, whilst the rest is a variety of pasture, boggy moorland, mountain trail and track. Dogs are not permitted on this trail. There are good accommodation options and fair resupply opportunities along the way.
