A good, easy hike for families with young children, this linear trail begins in the Upper Lake car park (4 euro parking charge) and takes you along the shoreline of the Upper Lake from where you can see the cave known as St. Kevin’s Bed over the other side. Getting deeper into the beautiful, glacial valley of Glendalough, in County Wicklow, you pass through some Scots pine forests before reaching the old miners village, now in ruins but certainly worth exploring.
This trail is marked with purple arrows and is 5km (there and back) and will take around an hour and a half to complete. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead at all times.
