### Getting There To reach the trailhead, you can drive or use public transport. If driving, set your GPS to the nearest known address: Nothweiler, Germany. There is parking available near the trailhead. For public transport, take a train to the nearest major station, Pirmasens Hauptbahnhof, and then a bus to Nothweiler. From there, it's a short walk to the start of the trail.

### Trail Highlights

#### Wegelnburg Castle Approximately 2 km (1.2 miles) into the hike, you will encounter the ruins of Wegelnburg Castle. Perched at an elevation of 570 meters (1,870 feet), this castle offers panoramic views of the surrounding Palatinate Forest and the Vosges Mountains. Built in the 12th century, Wegelnburg is the highest castle ruin in the Palatinate region. Take some time to explore the remnants of its walls and towers, and imagine the medieval life that once thrived here.

#### Château de Hohenbourg Continuing for another 3 km (1.9 miles), you will reach the Château de Hohenbourg. This castle, located just across the border in France, dates back to the 13th century.
