#### Higher Shelf Stones Starting from the Snake Pass Inn, the trail initially takes you through a mix of moorland and rocky terrain. After about 2 km (1.2 miles), you'll reach Higher Shelf Stones, a prominent feature offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. This area is also home to the wreckage of a B-29 Superfortress, known as "Over Exposed," which crashed here in 1948. The site serves as a poignant memorial and is a significant historical landmark.
#### Bleaklow Head Continuing from Higher Shelf Stones, the trail leads you towards Bleaklow Head, approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) into the hike. This is one of the highest points in the Peak District, standing at 633 meters (2,077 feet) above sea level. The terrain here is characterized by peat bogs and heather, offering a unique and somewhat challenging hiking experience.
