The Armenian national stage of the Transcaucasian Trail will take you over 827km through the most spectacular terrain this small nation in the South Caucasus has to offer. This border-to-border route traverses 7 provinces and represents the very best of the unique cultural and natural landscapes of Armenia, constituting a true world-class hiking experience. At this early stage of development, parts of the route are still off-trail and will require independent route-finding. The weather and terrain conditions in the Caucasus can be harsh. While trail infrastructure is being actively improved, visitors accustomed to the well-groomed trails of North America and Europe may find a slightly different understanding of what constitutes a “trail.” For more information on the development status, please visit the official Transcaucasian Trail website at https://transcaucasiantrail.org/. Hikers must be prepared to be self-sufficient for extended sections and aware that emergency medical care and search and rescue may often be unavailable. However, those who come prepared for self-sufficiency, diverse terrain, and off-trail travel will be rewarded with an incredible experience traversing one of the most culturally, linguistically, and geographically diverse parts of the world. Based on our data, the trail is graded as Medium. For information on how we grade trails, please click here. Also, check our latest community posts for trail updates. This trail can be completed in approx 52 days. Caution is advised on trail times as this depends on multiple variables. For more info, click here.
