I went into the Wills Hut in 1965 we crossed Makarora river climbed up through bush and sidled out and came out onto flats leading up valley to Wills hut. On the opposite side to current track via Gates of Hass. It was simple and we did a day trip carrying out venison for Makarora and back. What has happened with new track that sounds difficult with rope ladders and difficult access ?
