First 3km dull sitka, needs Deet. Fourth km heather with ankle beaking holes hidden in it. next 2-3km near trackless bog. Then from Slievemaan a good track. Walk up Slievemaan from Ballinabarny Gap instead.

Nice moderate hike with good views and rolling hills, forest track at beginning and end with good trail on mountain for all but 500mtrs.
