Established in 1909, it is one of Sweden's oldest national parks and a key destination along the famous Kungsleden hiking trail. Parking is available at the Abisko Turiststation, with several areas designated for day visitors, and fees may apply for extended stays. Wildlife includes reindeer, moose, and arctic foxes, along with a rich bird population. The flora is characterized by birch forests, arctic alpine meadows, and low shrubs. Key landmarks include Lake Torneträsk, the Abiskojåkka canyon, and views of the Lapporten (the "Gateway to Lapland"). The park is accessible by train from Stockholm to Abisko Turiststation, which is adjacent to the park entrance. Buses from Kiruna also connect to the area, making it accessible year-round for outdoor enthusiasts.
