Coillte’s Cruagh Wood is located on the slopes of Cruagh Mountain. From viewpoints along its walking trails and the carpark there are commanding views to Dublin Bay and the nearby Hell Fire Club Forest and on a clear day the Cooley and Mourne Mountains are visible. Cruagh Wood has a number of walking trail options, including the 3.9 km Slí na Sláinte trail, that follows the forest roads through this mostly coniferous woodland. Cruagh Wood is one of nine forests in the Coillte Nature Dublin Mountains Makeover project which is transforming these forests to benefit biodiversity and recreation. Cruagh Wood is also within the Dublin Mountains Partnership (DMP) area. Take a look at the DMP website to check for upcoming free guided hikes and lots of interesting information about the Dublin Mountains. Coillte and the DMP follow Leave No Trace Ireland Principles, please being all litter, including dog waste, home for appropriate disposal. Dogs are welcome, they must always be under effectual control to respect other recreational users and to protect wildlife and livestock. Note there are no toilets in Cruagh Wood.
