Millstream Falls National Park is located in Queensland, Australia. It is situated approximately 120 kilometers northwest of Cairns and 10 kilometers south of Atherton Tablelands. Nearby towns include Atherton, Mareeba, and Yungaburra. Established in 1984, the park is relatively young but rich in natural beauty. It was once part of the traditional lands of the Aboriginal people, and their cultural heritage is still evident in the area. The park is known for its stunning waterfalls, lush rainforests, and diverse wildlife. Parking facilities are available at the park's entrance. There is a large car park with plenty of spaces for visitors. Parking is free of charge. The park is home to a variety of native wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies, cassowaries, and koalas. Visitors may also encounter snakes, lizards, and various bird species. The park is a popular spot for birdwatching, with over 200 species recorded. The native flora of Millstream Falls National Park is dominated by rainforest vegetation. Common plant species include eucalyptus, rainforest palms, ferns, and vines. The park is home to the rare Atherton Tablelands Oak, a unique plant found only in this region. One of the park's most notable features is the Millstream Falls, a cascading waterfall that drops over 10 meters into a deep pool. The falls are surrounded by lush rainforest and offer a picturesque setting for swimming and picnicking. Other notable features include the Mount Hypipamee Crater, a volcanic crater filled with water, and the Barron River, which flows through the park. Public transport is available to get to Millstream Falls National Park. Visitors can take a bus from Cairns or Atherton to Mareeba and then transfer to a local bus or taxi to the park.
