For those using public transport, take a bus to Issaquah Transit Center and then a short taxi or rideshare to the trailhead.### Trail Overview The trail begins with a gradual ascent through dense forest, offering a mix of Douglas fir, western hemlock, and red cedar trees. The initial 2 km (1.2 miles) are relatively gentle, with an elevation gain of about 150 meters (492 feet). This section is perfect for warming up and getting accustomed to the terrain.### Significant Landmarks As you continue, you'll encounter the Preston Powerline Trail, a historic route that once served as a powerline corridor. This section is more open, providing panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. At around the 3 km (1.9 miles) mark, you'll reach a viewpoint that offers a stunning vista of Mount Rainier on clear days.### Wildlife and Nature The trail is rich in wildlife, including black-tailed deer, black bears, and various bird species like the northern spotted owl and pileated woodpecker.
