If you're using public transport, the nearest significant landmark is the North Bend Park & Ride, from where you can arrange a taxi or rideshare to the trailhead.### Trail OverviewThe trail spans approximately 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) with an elevation gain of around 1100 meters (3600 feet). This out-and-back trail is rated as medium difficulty, making it suitable for hikers with some experience and a good level of fitness.### Initial AscentStarting from the trailhead, the first section of the trail is a steady ascent through dense forest. The initial 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) will take you through a series of switchbacks, gaining about 300 meters (984 feet) in elevation. The forest is rich with Douglas firs and western hemlocks, providing ample shade and a serene atmosphere.### Teneriffe FallsAt approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) into the hike, you'll encounter Teneriffe Falls, a stunning waterfall that cascades down a rocky cliff. This is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the natural beauty. The falls are particularly impressive in the spring when the snowmelt increases the water flow.### Steeper ClimbContinuing past the falls, the trail becomes steeper and more rugged. Over the next 3 kilometers (1.9 miles), you'll gain another 400 meters (1312 feet) in elevation. This section requires careful footing, especially if the trail is wet or icy. Trekking poles can be very helpful here.### Reaching the SummitAs you approach the summit of Mount Teneriffe, the forest begins to thin out, offering panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. At around 8 kilometers (5 miles) from the trailhead, you'll reach the summit of Mount Teneriffe, which sits at an elevation of approximately 1440 meters (4724 feet). This is a perfect spot for a well-deserved rest and to take in the breathtaking views.### Blowdown MountainFrom the summit of Mount Teneriffe, the trail continues towards Blowdown Mountain. This section is less traveled and can be more challenging to navigate. Using a reliable navigation tool like HiiKER is highly recommended. The trail descends slightly before climbing again, adding another 200 meters (656 feet) in elevation over the next 2 kilometers (1.2 miles).### Wildlife and FloraThroughout the hike, keep an eye out for local wildlife. Black bears, deer, and various bird species are commonly spotted in this area.
