Loop
A peaceful moorland circular starting at Balderhead Reservoir car park, climbing gently onto the open fells before crossing to the historic remains at Shacklesborough. This route combines wide open North Pennines views with quiet upland solitude, passing old stone walls, grazing sheep and sweeping heather moor.
After exploring the elevated ground above the reservoir, the walk descends to follow the shoreline back to the car park, offering beautiful water reflections and expansive skies along the way.
A rewarding Teesdale circular with big views, remote atmosphere and a true sense of space.
