A nice variation on a previous walk at May Hill for today’s Viz Whizz. Started this one from a small layby at From here we headed NW through the woods to Woodgate. From here it’s practically South back to the Road that connects Glasshouse & Cliffords Mesne. We then picked up the the Wysis and Gloucestershire Way up to May Hill which is full of history. The original trees were planted here to enable Admiral May to Navigate both the River Severn and Wye when the area was industrial. They were then replanted im 1887 for Queen Victorias Golden Jubilee. May hill itself offers views up to the Makverns, across to the Black Mountains and also back down to of course the River Wye & Severn (both of which we took in the source of on our Mid Wales Trip). The next Whizz is scheduled for the 31st of August with a route out through Cadora Woods on the Offas Dyke footpath with a social at Redbrook for lunch
