Point-to-Point
You have probably heard of planes, trains and automobiles but today was Bus, boat and foot! We set off from the NT car park bus stop in Seatoller on the open top bus to Keswick. This cost was £3 per person and dogs are permitted free. Having pre booked our Walkers Launch tickets yesterday (£6.30pp one way) from Keswick Hause End we had a little time to pop into Booths and also grab a coffee. The Launch takes 15 mins and is a great way to start this linear. Once off the boat it's a short walk up through the woods to start the climb up Cat Bells (the 1st of 3 wainwrights we ticked off today). A steep but great start to this walk offering views over Derwent water and beyond on a clear day. We have done Cat Bells before but today we continued South (Ish) to take in Bull Crag 576m. Maiden Moor, the Cairn and High Spy at 648m. From here we dropped to the footpath heading east just before Dalehead Tarn and descended Through Rigghead Quarries and Tongue Gill to the climbing hut. The footpath is non existent from here so we picked out a route to meet the Bridleway heading south. The path was good and we made up a little time to the beach FP junction that leads South West down to Hause Gill cottages in Seatoller. Really enjoyed this especially with the 360° views over the lakes.
