We started this one from Dinas Farm where there is limited free parking. From here we picked up the Permissive Footpath around and up through Castell Dinas, which at 450m is the highest castle in England and Wales. After leaving here its then the undulating slog up The Dragons Back which, in the snow, gave spectacular views. Although there was a sharp breeze, we did get a bit of sun on this section and going up the snow underfoot didn't cause too many issues. Once we met the Cambrian Way at SO206 314 we continued South East past Pen y Manllwyn and up onto Waun Fach which at 810m is the highest peak in the Black Mountain Range. We continued South on the Cambrain Way until dropping onto the Cairn at 618m. I wanted to try an alternative route off from here, so after picking up the path that leads west toward Rhiw Trumau and hitting the edge of the open access land, I handrailed the boundary around to the Bridleway that leads down to Rhyd y Car. Unfortunately its back up to the saddle between Castell Dinas & the start of The Dragons Back before meeting the short section of Three Rivers Ride back to Dinas Farm.
