We started this from the Pont y Pair Car Park in Betws which was £5 for 4 hours and has toilets though there is a charge (50p Currently). From here we headed west handrailing the Afon Llugwy up to the Miners Bridge. After crossing the bridge and road (A5), followed the Roman Road, then turning off south east on the path leading through the Quarry and Hafod Las. It's then a good track through the woods generally heading south before turning back NE up to the Dam at Llyn Elsi. We managed to handrail its shores around the Monument commemorating the completion of the water works in 1914. We then picked our way round, again on good paths & tracks to Gartheryr. It's possible to drop directly to the footbridge from here but we continued round to Rhiw Gri on the main path to then meet the Footbridge. It's easy off from here popping out by St Mary's Church and Y Stablau. Once on the road it's a short leg back up to the Car Park.
