If driving, head towards Torver, which is easily accessible via the A593 road. There is a small car park near the village where you can leave your vehicle. As you start your hike, the path meanders through lush woodlands and open fields, offering a mix of shaded and open areas. The initial part of the trail is relatively flat, making it an easy start.### Points of Interest
At approximately 1 km (0.6 miles) into the hike, you will reach the shores of Coniston Water. This lake is one of the largest in the Lake District and is famous for its clear waters and stunning reflections of the surrounding hills. It's a great spot to take a break and enjoy the scenery.#### Torver Common Wood Continuing along the trail, you will enter Torver Common Wood around the 2 km (1.2 miles) mark. This ancient woodland is home to a variety of flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for red squirrels, deer, and a plethora of bird species. The dense canopy provides a cool, shaded environment, making it a pleasant walk even on warmer days.### Historical Significance The area around Coniston Water has a rich history.
