To reach the trailhead, you can drive to Findon, which is easily accessible via the A24 road. For those using public transport, the nearest train station is Worthing, from where you can catch a bus to Findon village. The trailhead is conveniently located near the village center, making it easy to start your hike.

The trail begins in the heart of Findon village, a picturesque location with quaint cottages and a welcoming atmosphere. As you set off, you'll quickly find yourself surrounded by the rolling hills of the South Downs.
The initial part of the trail takes you through open fields and gentle inclines. After about 2 km (1.2 miles), you’ll reach Cissbury Ring, one of the largest Iron Age hill forts in England. This ancient site offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and is a fantastic spot for a short break. The elevation gain here is gradual, making it accessible for most hikers.
Continuing from Cissbury Ring, the trail meanders through a mix of woodland and open grassland. Around the 4 km (2.5 miles) mark, you’ll join a section of the Monarch's Way, a historic route that traces the escape of King Charles II after the Battle of Worcester in 1651. This part of the trail is relatively flat, allowing you to enjoy the diverse flora and fauna of the area. Keep an eye out for deer, rabbits, and a variety of bird species.
As you loop back towards Findon, the trail takes you through more wooded areas and past several small streams. The final stretch is a gentle descent back into the village, offering a relaxing end to your hike. By the time you return to the trailhead, you will have completed a full loop, having experienced both the natural beauty and historical significance of the region.
