HiiKER competes directly with AllTrails, OS Maps, Komoot and Outdooractive. We're founder-led and independent, and we win on map quality, trail coverage and being genuinely close to hikers.
Our revenue today is almost entirely consumer subscriptions. We've built strong partnerships on the content and cartography side — Ordnance Survey, Harvey Maps, Purple Lizard Maps and others — so we know the model works. Now we're bringing in someone to take it further, with commercial partnerships as their full-time focus. That's this role.
You'll own the pipeline end to end and report directly to the founders. The opportunity spans outdoor brands, membership organisations, tour operators and employers — we'll go through the specific targets and commercial models with you at interview stage.
One thing to do in your application: name one organisation you'd go after first, and how you'd open that conversation. That note matters more to us than the CV.
What you'll do
- Build and own the target list, and prioritise it by revenue potential.
- Run outbound yourself — research, cold outreach, conferences, trade shows and warm intros.
- Pitch, negotiate and close commercial agreements, working with us on pricing and contract terms.
- Design the commercial models with us.
- Work with product and engineering on what each partner needs in order to say yes.
- Manage signed partners so they renew and grow, rather than handing them off to someone else.
- Keep a clean CRM, and report pipeline and closed revenue to the founders monthly.
What we're looking for
- Three or more years in B2B sales, business development or partnerships, with deals you personally sourced and closed.
- Proven cold outreach. You can get a meeting with a brand marketing lead or a head of benefits without a warm intro.
- Confident negotiating commercial terms, and working through procurement and legal.
- Self-directed. Small team, no sales support, and you set your own week.
- Credible with outdoor brands and hiking organisations, which usually means you hike yourself.
- Comfortable being our first dedicated commercial hire in this area — you'll shape how the channel runs rather than inherit it.
Bonus points for
- An existing network in outdoor retail, adventure travel or corporate wellbeing.
- Experience selling SaaS, app licensing or subscription products.
- You've worked with membership bodies, NGOs or federations.
- A second European language.
About HiiKER
HiiKER is a hiking app used by well over a million people to find trails, download offline maps and navigate everything from an afternoon loop to a thousand-kilometre thru-hike.
We're a remote team based across the UK and Ireland. The work you do shows up in the product within weeks, and nobody here has the luxury of only doing the parts of their job they enjoy.
What we offer
- A competitive base salary, discussed openly at first interview, plus uncapped commission on closed contract value.
- A channel that's yours to define — you're joining early enough for that to be true.
- Remote-first — work from wherever you're happiest, with occasional team meet-ups.
- A short path from "good idea" to "shipped" — no layers of sign-off.
- The trade shows and conferences you need to be at, and the budget to get there.
- A free HiiKER PRO+ account for you and your family, and a gear budget.
- Time and encouragement to actually get outdoors — it's the product, and we mean it.
How to apply
Use the form below. A CV plus a few honest sentences about why this role interests you goes a long way — we read every application ourselves, and we'd much rather see something specific than something polished.
We'll come back to you either way. The process is a short intro call, one practical conversation about the work itself, and a final chat with Pete and Paul, the founders.
