Also the starting point of section of the Te Araroa to the Rakaia River, Lake Emily in the Hakatere Conservation Park in the Canterbury Region, gives good access to Manuka Hut. It takes around an hour and a half to cover the 4.5 km trail, although caution is advised on trail times as this depends on multiple variables. For more info, click here.the Manuka Hut is a basic hut, with 6 bunk beds, mattresses, non-flush toilets and water from a stream. Booking is not required, first come first served.
